A social epidemiologist and bioethicist by training, Dr. Roger Yat-Nork Chung's research uses the lens of biomedical ethics and justice to examine the social determinants of health and health inequalities. He is currently examining social determinants such as poverty, deprivation, socioeconomic disadvantage, environmental and housing factors, and migrant status. He is also particularly interested in the health of migrant workers and rare disease patients. On the other hand, he is conducting research on aging‐related issues, including long‐term/end‐of‐ life care and multimorbidity. Collectively, the purpose of his research is to inform reaponsible and ethical health services and public policy, domestically and internationally.

Chung is currently the Co-Director of CUHK Centre for Bioethics, an Associate Professor of the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care of CUHK, the Programme Director of the Master of Public Health (MPH), and the Associate Director of the CUHK Institute of Health Equity. He is also the inaugural International Health Policy Fellow of the National Academy of Medicine in the USA. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Public Health, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a Master of Health Sciences (MHS), Harvard Medical School with a Master of Science in Bioethics (MBE), and the University of Hong Kong with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in social and life course epidemiology.

Apart from his academic life, he is an award‐winning and celebrated recording artist/producer, appearing in concerts and music festivals regularly.
