Marta Herschkopf, MD, MSt, is a psychiatrist and educator at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She received her MD from Harvard Medical School, completed her residency in psychiatry at New York University, and her fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as subsequent fellowships in bioethics, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and medical education. She specializes in the care of patients with concomitant medical and psychiatric illness on the psychiatric consultation service at BIDMC where she also serves as director of medical student education in psychiatry. She also has a private practice in Cambridge focusing on psychotherapy. Her bioethical interests include moral distress, decisional capacity, and treatment of patients with major mental illness.
