
Mariah Tanious, MD, MPH, FAAP
Mariah Tanious, MD, MPH, FAAP is a pediatric anesthesiologist at the Medical University of South Carolina. She received her MD/MPH dual degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed anesthesiology residency at Harvard/Brigham and Women’s Hospital followed by a pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Harvard/Boston Children’s Hospital and a Fellowship in Bioethics from Harvard Medical School. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tanious is the Director of Pediatric Anesthesia Research and conducts studies which focus on perioperative bioethics, pediatric palliative care and end-of-life surgery. She likewise co-leads a multidisciplinary research group of bioethicists, which includes strong collaborations across specialties and whose peer-reviewed findings have been presented internationally. Dr. Tanious has been fortunate share her work in high-impact journals (including JAMA, Pediatrics, and Annals of Surgery), and has received multiple awards for clinical, teaching and research excellence across her time in training and as faculty.
