Maggie Kirber, MSW, LICSW, MBE, HEC-C
Maggie Kirber, MSW, LICSW, MBE, HEC-C is a Clinical Ethicist and Social Worker at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She received her BA in French from Bates College, her MSW from Simmons College and her MBE from Harvard Medical School. Maggie practiced as a Clinical Social Worker in the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children’s for 15 years, where the focus of her work was on supporting families of critically ill children, including crisis-intervention and bereavement support. Since graduating with her MBE, Maggie has been working as a clinical ethicist where she leads ethics consultations on a wide range of pediatric ethics topics, facilitates staff education and support through unit-based ethics rounds, and serves on multiple hospital committees. She is a member of the BCH Ethics Advisory Committee and has participated in multiple hospital-wide policy initiatives including the Resolving Conflicts in Decision Making Policy. In addition to her work in clinical ethics, Maggie practices social work in the Fetal Care and Surgery Center at BCH and is a Teaching Assistant at Harvard Medical School’s Center for Bioethics.
