Janice Firn, PhD, LMSW, HEC-C
Janice Firn, PhD, LMSW, HEC-C is an Associate Professor in the Department of Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School and Clinical Ethicist and Chief of Ethics Education for Michigan Bioethics and Michigan Medicine. She received her BS from Michigan State University, MSW from the University of Michigan, and PhD from Lancaster University (UK). Her scholarly interests and expertise include ethics education and clinical ethics consultation with a focus on ethical issues in the ICU, palliative and end of life care, moral distress, and qualitative methods research. Her career includes directing the Ethics Path of Excellence and the Pre- and Post-Doctoral Clinical Ethics Fellowships at the University of Michigan Medical School, where she mentors future leaders in bioethics through immersive educational experiences.
