Anna C. F. Lewis, DPhil
Anna C. F. Lewis, DPhil is a bioethicist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She received her undergraduate degree in Physics and Philosophy and her DPhil in Systems Biology both from the University of Oxford. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard's Ethics Center and the Division of Genetics at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Anna’s research primarily focuses on the ethical, legal and social implications of genetics and genomics. In particular, her research is focused on public health genomics, i.e. the use of genome-based science in the preventative setting. Anna leverages her scientific background and years of experience in the genomics industry in this work, which she always conducts hand-in-hand with scientists. She has authored a wide body of empirical and conceptual work, including the development of several ethical frameworks (see www.acflewis.com). She co-founded and runs the Bioethics Initiative at the Broad Institute, which includes a research ethics consultancy service. Her work is supported by the NIH.
