In this issue, Professor Arthur Kleinman talks with Center for Bioethics Director Robert Truog about his recent book, What Really Matters: Living a Moral Life amidst Uncertainty and Danger. In this book, he explores cases from his own experience and psychiatric practice, where individuals faced situations where they were called upon to act in ways that were profoundly contrary to what they thought was right. These cases illustrate the moral courage that is necessary to openly encounter, and learn from, these life challenges.
