Center faculty member Aaron Kesselheim, MD, JD, MPH was quoted in a Reuters article on the rising costs of novel prescription drugs in the United States. Kesselheim co-authored a JAMA study on the prices of new drugs in the US year-over-year; that study found a median cost of $180,000 for new prescription drugs in 2021. Reuters found a double-digit median price increase for 2022. Kesselheim said, "I don't see anything changing that trend,” and stated that the issue would likely necessitate a regulatory response from Congress.
