Katherine Peeler, MD, MA
Katherine R. Peeler, MD, MA is a pediatric critical care physician at Boston Children's Hospital. She received her MD from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, completed her pediatrics training at University of Michigan, and fellowship in critical care at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Peeler is an expert on the health and health rights of detained immigrant children and adults and has written extensively on this topic as well as served as an expert witness in multiple legal cases on behalf of this population. Her immigration research and advocacy lab incorporates students from many of Harvard’s graduate schools. From a bioethics perspective, she is interested in the concept of divergent directives/dual loyalties and how care providers navigate opposing mandates within a care system. She is the recipient of the Geisel School of Medicine Young Alumni Award, the Harvard Medical School Dean's Community Service Faculty Award, and Harvard Medical School’s Barbara J. McNeil Faculty Award for Exceptional Service. During the 2022-2023 academic year, she was the Joint Fellow-in-Residence at The Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics and the Center for Bioethics, both of Harvard University.
