Peter Zuk

Peter Zuk, PhD

Research Fellow, Brain Bioethics Lab

Peter Zuk, PhD, is a research fellow in the Brain Bioethics Lab at Harvard Medical School’s Center for Bioethics. He received his PhD in philosophy from Rice University in 2019. His work investigates the relationship between conceptions of mind, value, and the human person in the history of philosophy in order to address contemporary questions about the nature of moral objectivity, welfare, meaningfulness, and their manifestations in debates about emerging neurotechnologies. His applied work on these technologies has focused on novel applications of deep brain stimulation and also examined topics such as neuroimaging, disorders of consciousness, and neural organoids. He recently began an NIH-BRAIN Initiative fellowship grant (F32MH127776) examining conceptual, ethical, and social aspects of research developing brain-based artificial vision.
