Dr. Lindsay Semler is the Executive Director of Clinical Ethics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. Her background includes critical care and emergency nursing experience, as well as education, quality improvement, and leadership at UPMC and Penn Medicine. She was also the director of the system-wide Ethics service at INTEGRIS Health. Lindsay obtained her BSN and MSN from the University of Pittsburgh, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a focus on moral distress from Johns Hopkins, and the Advanced Training in Healthcare Ethics certificate at the University of Washington. She is certified as a Healthcare Ethics Consultant (HEC-C) and critical care nurse (CCRN). Her bioethical areas of interest focus on organizational and preventive healthcare ethics, addressing moral distress in staff, and improving communication in healthcare.
