The Center for Bioethics will continue to offer many of our events online to our students, faculty, staff, and interested members of the public.
Our virtual events require attendees to preregister via Zoom, which is an easy online platform for video and audio conferences.
Getting a Zoom Account
You do not need a Zoom account to participate, but they are free and members of the public can get a Zoom account at Zoom.us.
Harvard Medical School Quad-based faculty, staff, students, and other members of the Harvard community can set-up an HMS Zoom account here.
Please remember that the e-mail you use to register for an event must be the same e-mail connected to your Zoom account.
Registering for Center Events
All Center events are listed in the online calendar, and each event has an individual registration link. Once registered, you will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail, and prior to the event you will receive an event link and password to join the event webinar via Zoom.
Each link is designed for a single access only and will not work if shared or forwarded.
Most Center events are conducted via Zoom webinars, which automatically disable video and audio. Look for instructions about submitting questions via chat during the event or in advance online.
The Center will make every effort to live stream events via our Facebook or YouTube page.
Zoom Best Practices
Join Zoom from a location where you can use fast, reliable Internet connection. If joining using a Wi-Fi connection, generally this location should be as close to the wireless router as possible. Wired connections work best.
Closing unused/unneeded computer applications during the Zoom session can improve connection reliability.
You can test your connection to make sure your computer is working properly at https://zoom.us/test.
