Mary McDonough, JD, PHD a former Legal Services health care attorney and state legislator, has a law degree; a MA in Catholic theology, with a specialization in moral theology; and, a PhD in ethics and social theory with a specialization in bioethics. She has taught ethics and has been a visiting scholar at The Hastings Center. She writes extensively on health care policy focusing on issues of social justice and is the author of “Can a Health Care Market Be Moral? A Catholic Vision.” She is also interested in neuroscience with its ethical, legal, and social implications not only for public health but also for our basic underlying assumptions about human nature and moral responsibility.
